ILU THE MOSTEST

I guess nothing has technically changed about their relationship but as a recap, Apple has the utmost respect and admiration for Mau. He's able to keep his head in difficult situations, is always questioning and searching for answers, and is able to support everyone in his own way! They're similar enough that she can see where he's coming from in most situations and his presence is enough to help her keep her head and try to come up with a rational solution (she misses him during games now...). But just as much as he supports her, she's able to support him too. She knows he's not perfect and he can still make mistakes; he's growing just like everyone else. Sometimes she will remember he's younger than her, but that doesn't account for much since her boss is 12 and she's used to people younger than her having leader-like positions. Sheee used to kind of view Mau as in a leader-like position in Sapphire, and to an extent she still does! But because Sapphire is so...mm, individualized? She doesn't really think of anyone as having a leader position. More accurately it's more of a veteran position, since he's Legacy and has been there the longest. ...I got distracted from what I was saying. She appreciates having someone on Sapphire that she can be open with! They're open enough with each other and their concerns that they can sort of work their way to a solution, or just be there for each other, which is healthy and how she thinks people should communicate! It's like the relationships she has back home and she treasures being able to build that kind of relationship with someone in Aather a lot. She will pull back and try to work her way around things with almost everyone else, or hedge her opinions in order to not offend or cause trouble, but with him she'll speak openly. It's frustrating when she can't articulate her problems to him because she knows he wants to help :( ...That was all I had in my train of thought so if you want something specific you can ask for that.

Did you want Haruki and Jill too. that can be my question. NO WAIT REVERSE ME and then if you want Haruki and Jill too I can do that.

Mau is really comfortable with Apple! He's deliberately open with her because he feel like it's the only fair exchange for her being open with him, but he never has to be calculated about it, because he doesn't mind telling her about himself at all. He's also really comfortable being bossed around by her; she gets a lot of Free Bullying Points if she ever wants to use them. He really values her skills and courage, although he sometimes feels like she has a lot more to offer the world at large if she'd worry less about causing trouble and just consistently stick to her guns instead of suppressing herself and then impulsively bursting out with rash things on strange occasions. But mostly he just loves her and respects her and wants to offer her support however he can.

Jill is now...the person who has stayed on Amethyst longest besides Night! Y-yandere increase by 500%. He really likes her! She's feisty and determined and snarky and tries to do her best. He also still views her as the baby of the team, SORRY JILL. Not in the sense of her being childish or immature; he would put her as someone he trusts most on the team, despite not being willing to tell her...most anything about his home life. And he values her input more than anyone else...including Night, depending on the situation. But she's the baby because she's the one he wants to protect; any time something happens to her in a game he freaks out and is more than willing to kill the problem to make it go away .-.b But he is also trying to be a good person and set a good example for her so that isn't an option, alas.

Jill thinks Haruki is the most dependable person she knows besides Edmund '^' but she can tell he still babies her, and it makes her crazy. She wants to protect him, too, and it's very important to her that he knows she can handle herself. Jill doesn't really... have... skills... beyond being brave and being willing to take risks, all her useful experience is with like. WILDERNESS TRAVEL and BATTLE and SCOUTING and so she's actually much more confident in her ability to help that way than any other, even though she doesn't particularly enjoy those things. So she feels like she can't offer support to Haruki in the ways she knows she's competent because he doesn't like it.

But also his opinion matters more to her and his reassurance means more to her than pretty much anyone else's so. It's like this ridiculous seesaw of craving approval and thinking he's a jerk whose approval she doesn't need because he doesn't understand!! And she's terrified he'll leave -- Amethyst is only remotely home because he's there.

TELL ME ABOUT APPLE VS NEW TEAMMATES.

New teammates bring lots of conflicting feelings with them :(a! Apple has lots of Sapphire dere, but her Sapphire dere comes from…the people she’s come to know and trust that happen to be on Sapphire. Dealing with her and TEAMS is a whole different mess because she dislikes teams and what the teams do to people, so she’s very aware of that notion all the time. But Sapphire is good at being independent but still being there for each other when they don’t completely avoid each other to try to not deal with their problems. They would all still be friends even if they weren’t on Sapphire!! And so she’s content with being “Sapphire” as long as only Sapphire calls her that, no one else is allowed to call her that to her face :U She kind of got into a fight with Ling over it LOL ;; 

But! The thing is that Sapphire has always been the same people to her for the longest time and she’s gotten to know them all and come to like them as people and not just because they’re “Sapphire”. So each new teammate has been a different experience and a different reaction depending on the circumstances. 

This is going to be way longer than I intended oops BUT THE FIRST NEW PERSON TO HER WAS NESSA, I think? She didn’t even meet Archeron before he got booked and Aang came, I think, so Aang was just kind of a new person with her. Nessa came back from the Darkness and after the whole Darkness event Apple knew that Darkness is REALLY BAD so seeing her come back was just a huge relief, and also she was someone returning as opposed to someone the Personae were kidnapping from a world. So it was just kind of like, comparatively if you are getting a teammate having it be someone getting out of the Darkness is really good!  And she and Mau had just talked about wishing for Nessa to get out so it was a really good feeling of maybe being able to do something by wishing really hard for it. 

The only “new” teammate that she’s had is Yuki; everyone else is a comfortable Sapphire that was a Sapphire before!!! Well except Berry but Berry was in Aather before so it’s a little different. She didn’t feel like she needed to do anything other than be herself around Nessa because well it’s just another person?? But with Yuki she wanted to help him because he was new like her and she knows that feel of disliking everything and not wanting to be here and ew no why am I on a team what is this no. Which ensued a lot of awkwardly trying to help Yuki and get to know him better and kind of try to show him that it’s okay to hate teams and still have teamdere for the people on your team (no it’s not okay Apple don’t be a hypocrite).   

And then Sapphire was the same people for a REALLY LONG TIME and she’s told herself she’d like all Sapphires past and present because she likes “Sapphire”…but she just. Likes the people that are on Sapphire right now. And Mau and Red and Selenia always say good things about old Sapphires so she has positive impressions of them in her mind. And most all of the new teammates have come after good ends so there isn’t a feeling of SOMEONE I LIKE IS NOW IN THE BOOK 8( Shion came when Mau got Legacy’d so…honestly Shion’s arrival was overshadowed by MAU IS STAYING MAU ISN’T LEAVING Mau never leave. She is actually incredibly awkward around the returning Sapphires, I think? Nessa was kind of easy because she isn’t overbearing and they have similar interests, but it’s a feeling of “I don’t know this person so I can’t be comfortable about living with them until I get to know them better.” She is still getting to know Shion! And she can smile and be polite, but she can do that with most people because that’s how you treat people, you shouldn’t be rude. But she is horribly uncomfortable and then Shion hugged her after the rip exploradora and Apple was just like ;A; n….o hugging no I am mad and upset right now d-don’t touch. So she’s still trying to figure out how to deal with Shion too, she’s just good at faking :|b

Berry wasn’t a returning Sapphire but Berry is really different because she’s Apple’s friend that was put into the Book and Apple was really upset and almost decked a knight because he wouldn’t let her see the Book to see Berry, GOOD TIMES. She and Kit made a scrapbook and put it in the Book for Berry and that was kind of similar to her and Mau wishing Nessa out of the Darkness; having it actually work (or having it appear to be because of her efforts) was uplifting!! Berry was one of her closest friends offteam and now she is onteam but the more important part is that Berry is back, and the “she’s on my team with me” hasn’t sunk in yet because they haven’t been in any games together and I’m pretty sure she just sleeps at Coral like every night? But she’s comfortable with Berry so she doesn’t feel awkward around her.       

And I was gonna talk about Bubbles too but Styx asked about Bubbles so I will do that in that response instead I ACCIDENTALLY WORD VOMIT. Uhmmm TELL ME ABOUT MAU’S SAPPHIRE FEELINGS

Mau likes and cares deeply for every member of Sapphire; his feelings on the team are "well we have to live with each other and cooperate, so we'd better do our best to all get along with and support each other regardless of personal feelings" and "I'm responsible for them -- not as a leader, but just, whenever someone new shows up on Sapphire, it would be wrong for me not to try to take care of them and get them settled and be a resource." He feels very lucky that he DOES actually like everyone on Sapphire, but Mau isn't someone who actually... has to like or get along with someone... to care about them sincerely...

...anyway on paper it sounds very pragmatic and kind of cold but the thing is that Mau backs up all his pragmatic, sensible ideas with fierce emotional intensity so. "Well we'd better get along" actually ends up translating to "we WILL stand by each other BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING ELSE ACCEPTABLE THAT WE CAN DO." At the same time, he thinks that the way they're forcibly split into teams is asshattery and he thinks it's the height of stupidity when there is ever TEAM VS TEAM conflict outside of games. He looks for ways to change and subvert this all the time, but he doesn't really get... offended or shirty... about the EXISTENCE of teams on a day-to-day basis because what is the point that is a waste of his energy :|b But although he thinks the construct is stupid, it still exists and is something that currently needs to be contended with, so he doesn't try to ignore it, and as long as it's there, he'll try to work within it the best way possible for the people around him on a daily basis.

He's a practical man who wants to take care of everyone ever THESE ARE SORT OF HARD THINGS TO RECONCILE but that's what his Sapphire feels are based in as well. And there's a lot of dere but none of it is based in Sapphire-as-team but in oh-gosh-these-individuals.

QUESTIONS ARE HARD idk if you're still doing this maybeeee tell me about TECH AND MAGIC levels in Apple's world? What is normal for her?

I am slowly still poking through this, yes. Everyone asks interesting questions '-'!! Uhm the tech level for her is very basic; her world is a horse-and-carriage kind of world, no electricity or anything like that. She is very baffled by the concept but it seems interesting! Movies sound fascinatinggggg. So do jet packs. I have no idea what the plumbing is like but it's possible she was very excited by running water and flushing toilets too, they don't really expand upon what kind of plumbing they have in manga FOR SOME REASON (they should because I am oddly curious). Amnesia kind of made her accept the concept easier, but she still can't fully grasp it. Magic lightning yes okay sounds cool??? And even though she knows the idea, there isn't really any huge tech in aather so she doesn't come in contact with it a lot. As for magic, we haven't gotten a LOT on that but I am thinking her world doesn't have any, at least not in an overt sense. But there are things like glowing plants on her world, which are definitely not normal. There are plants that all look the same but produce different colored seeds too...and colorful birds that can learn to follow the sounds of whistles and bells (birds might already be able to do that but the point is they have cute birds). There are herbs that she can use to make ointments for bruises and burns which i am pretty sure don't actually exist, i sadly know nothing about actual medicine but if there is an injury or illness there seems to always be some kind of thing she can make from plants to fix it! If magic popped up at some point I would not be surprised, because the flora and fauna of her world all have a very magical quality to them. And because of that quality she is more accepting of magical things than more advanced technology; not that her world doesn't understand science and developing technology, but it's still in the early processes of developing so she doesn't know how it gets from point A to point B. or something like that. The way people use magic is...actually a little concerning to her, because she doesn't know how it works or when it will STOP working; like the personae seem to be able to turn magic on and off during games as they please, which is a very serious issue. Magic is just as cool as technology but also something she doesn't fully comprehend and something she doesn't want to rely on.

Because I thought this question was interesting, does Mau think Sapphire's tactics on how to approach games have changed since he first arrived? how has it developed?
